We have 73 entries and will have a lot to get through and the weather is looking not great.
In order to try and get ahead of it on Friday we have made the following changes to the schedule:
Registration will be open on Thursday at the range from 3pm - 5pm. Registration will continue on Friday morning from 6:30am till 8am. Briefing will be at 8am with first shots fired at 8:30am.
Gun checks will be run at registration so you'll need to bring shotguns and handguns and all your mags.
If the weather sets in we could be looking at it being too dark to continue shooting around 4-4:30pm.
We will be running 5 squads of 14/15 and with bad weather will need everyone working to get through all the stages each day.
The plan is for each squad to break after 3 stages and get their lunches then eat them on the go.
Lastly, we will be filming this weekend and want to demonstrate ourselves as a recreational sport so no camouflage or paramilitary clothing. If you don't comply with this you'll be asked to change and if you can't change you'll be asked to leave the range.

Range 3 Works Update]]>http://www.pistolclub.org.nz/single-post/2017/01/23/Range-3-Works-Updatehttp://www.pistolclub.org.nz/single-post/2017/01/23/Range-3-Works-UpdateMon, 23 Jan 2017 09:27:29 +0000
Hi Everyone
Now that the festive season is over work is continuing on the noise reduction measures at Auckland Pistol Club.
Work is progressing on Range 3 and the right hand side of the range is almost complete.
The Whisper Panels on the exterior walls are now in place and have made a very noticeable difference to the noise levels from Range 3.
Preliminary testing has shown excellent results and once work is complete Range 3 should be back to normal operation.
The new exterior range wall is well underway and once this has been finished the left hand side of Range 3 will be cladded with the Whisper Panels and final testing completed.
Once Range 3 is completed work will begin on Range 2b. The existing layout of this range makes it the next most cost-effective to soundproof. Our next biggest hurdle will be raising the necessary funds to purchase the materials required to push the project along.
Each Whisper Panel costs us $250+GST ($287.50 incl GST) and we will require a lot of them in order to soundproof the entire complex.
We will be doing everything we can to fund-raise for this project as membership fees will not be enough to cover the materials and labour we will need to complete the project. If anyone would would like to sponsor a panel or more your donation would be gratefully received.
To sponsor a panel please contact our Treasurer - Rob - treasurer@pistolclub.org.nz

We had our annual Christmas shoot and club prizegiving last Sunday.
There was a good turnout with some fun shooting events by each section with prizes of frozen chickens up for grabs. The day also afforded everyone the opportunity to see the work undertaken on range 3 with a lot of positive feedback given.
It's been a difficult year for the club because of the constraints around noise but we still managed to get some club champs matches in for some of the sections. We've added a results page to the club website under the NEWS menu where we will start to post results for club champs matches and also other competitions that we host.
The results page can be found here: http://www.pistolclub.org.nz/results
This year the 3Gun section awarded the Jon Hine cup for the first time to the overall winner in Standard Division. Jon was maintenance officer at the club for many years and very active with IPSC and 3Gun.
He was part of the core team that built the stages for the IPSC Australasians held in Rotorua in 2013 and tirelessly gave up his weekends to create an amazing shoot.
The cup is a memorial to Jon, who sadly passed away in January this year.
Congratulations go out to Brent Millard who was the first recipient of the cup.

Hi everyone.
Here's the latest update regarding the sound-proofing work being carried out on Range 3.
The plywood interior relining has been painted and installation of the interior acoustic material has begun. Autex contractors are expected to complete the interior part of the installation by the end of this week.
We have received some of the exterior whisper sheeting - about enough to do half of the external work required. The balance is being shipped in another container with ETA still to be confirmed.
Once the materials we have on hand are installed we should be in a position to do some initial testing which will give us an indication of the effectiveness of the sound-proofing system.
Our next update will be once the materials are up and the testing has been done.
We hope to be able to announce at that time that the ISSF section are able to return to full sunday matches once again.

Hi everyone.
Just a quick update regarding the sound-proofing work being carried out on Range 3.
The plywood interior relining is now complete and should have been painted over the weekend.
The next phase involves interior acoustic material being installed by Autex hopefully this week. We are expecting the exterior Whisper sheeting to arrive from Europe any time now and we plan to have this installed around the end of November / early December.
Once the lining process has been completed we will then be in a position to conduct more sound testing to determine the effectiveness of the noise reduction from our efforts.
These test results will then be provided to Auckland Council and we will determine next steps to continue the noise mitigation process.
The club prize-giving and Christmas shoot is this Sunday the 4th of December. Any members that are interested in seeing the progress are welcome to come out and inspect the work undertaken to date.
Further updates will be sent out via club newsletter emails and here on the club website and Facebook page as they come to hand.

We are pleased to announce that work the committee has done with the Auckland City Council has allowed us to reopen for shooting within certain parameters until further noise reduction work can be undertaken at the range.
It is IMPERATIVE members have read and understand the current shooting conditions and procedures which are listed above the sign-in table at the range. Failure to follow these conditions will result in the closure of the club again and any member(s) responsible will face suspension or cancellation of their membership.
The range will be overseen each shooting day by a Range Master who is a committee member or other club member appointed by committee to ensure compliance of the new restrictions. Failure to follow directions by the Range Master may also lead to suspension or cancellation of your membership.
If you have any questions or concerns about the restricted operation of the club please email the club secretary

Dear Club members,
The proximity token reader has been working well but there is now an error with some of the recently issued tokens. This should typically only effect new members that have been added recently.
If you are 'swiping' in and the machine says 'Thank-you' and shows a green light then all is well.
If the machine has previously done this for you but now says 'FAIL' and shows a red light please click here to email me.
Please include:
your name,
your PNZ/membership number,
and the number printed on the token you have.
I will update the machine and it will accept your token again.
If you haven't had a chance to swipe your token recently or are unsure if it is working by all means click the link above, provide the details and I will make sure that they are correct in the proximity token reader.
Regards
APC Club Secretary

This weekend sees the 3rd annual Rack n Roll IPSC competition.
Rack n Roll was first held to provide a local match for Classic and Revolver shooters with an emphasis on fun. We shoot 12 stages over two days splt to approximately 100 rounds per day.
When we held the inaugural match there were a few shooters without revolvers or 1911s that wanted to shoot the match for practice. They really enjoyed the match so the following year we opened it up to all divisions . Last year almost half the competitors shot other divisions and trophies are awarded across all divisions.
This year the emphasis is still on revolvers and 1911s with the two shield trophies being awarded in these two divisions but trophies will be awarded to other divisions. The Rack n Roll also qualifies as a grading match for any divisions with 3 or more Master Grade shooters as per the IPSC section policy on the PNZ website.
This year's stages will have a good level of challenge but nothing too tricky for a novice to handle. Once again the emphasis is on having fun and experienced shooters are there happy to help new shooters along.
Most of the shooters are from APC so there will be plenty of familiar faces around.
The stages are set and the weather is looking good so come along and join in and give it a go!

No it's not on fire, in fact it leaks. The roof is in need of repair, but they just don't make a catchy song with those lyrics.
Repairs are coming. Look forward in the next few weeks to the start of some long run roofing iron replacing the current tiled roof.
Also Nova roof is to be installed on Range One, to prevent the rain from coming into the concrete pad area....and the walkway at the back of Range Two is to be covered over to give you some shelter while shooting on those rainy days.
